YUcCA
The lime green apartment with its yucca trompe l’oeil murals has two floors. On the ground floor lies a private yard, a small WC, a fully equipped kitchenette and the living/dining room with a sofa, which can be converted into a single or a double bed, thereby increasing the accommodation of the apartment to four people.
A double bedroom is situated on the second floor with an en suite bathroom with shower. It is fully air conditioned and ceiling fanned, has WiFi, a TV and a safe.
Known as a resilient, reliable and adaptable plant, the Yucca, or ‘palm lily’ is found from rocky deserts, to prairies and sandy coasts. Its evergreen leaves, shaped in rosettes, produce clusters of white flowers that bloom from spring to late summer. The Yucca was found originally in the Americas and in the Caribbean and it is said to purify the air of our home. But what is most astounding about the Yucca is its relationship with the yucca moth. Their ancient evolutionary history shows an intimate relationship of symbiosis and coevolution between the plant and the insect. With the Yucca’s welcoming and hospitality, and the moth’s inquiring spirit, a unique cohabitable experience of ‘home’ starts forming and the distinct roles between guest and host become inapplicable.
