The Cereus apartment has two floors. On the ground floor you will find the living/dining room with two sofas, which can be converted into two single beds, the private yard with cereus trompe l’oeil murals, the fully equipped kitchenette and the bathroom with a shower.
The upper floor, with the beamed ceiling, houses a double bedroom and a second bathroom with a shower. The room is air conditioned and ceiling fanned, including WiFi, a TV and a safe.
Derived from greek and latin, the name cereus means wax, torch or candle, commemorating the columnar and treelike growth that this cactus has. Also known as ‘queen of the night’ or ‘moonlight cactus’, its white, pink or cream flowers bloom every few years only at night in the deep summer months. The Native American tradition of Tohono O’odham tells the story of the ‘Old Mother White Head’ that turned into a beautiful huge flower, symbolizing hope, family and home. When visiting the Cereus Room you might get lucky and witness from the moonlit windows it’s bloom at night, which is said to grant you blessings and good fortune.
