ALoCAsIA
The biggest of the five apartments, painted in vibrant green and red colors, is situated on the upper floor of ‘Cactus Hydra’ and hosts a huge private veranda to dine and relax. The living/dining room has two sofas, which can be converted into two single beds, and an open plan fully equipped kitchen, a fireplace and sunny windows.
The double bedroom has plenty of storage space and is overlooking the leafy square. It has an en suite bathroom with a shower. The apartment is fully air conditioned and ceiling fanned, has WiFi, a TV and a safe.
Also called ‘Elephant’s Ear’ and ‘African Mask Plant’, Alocasia is known for its striking large leaves, bold green color and elegant tall stems. Originally from subtropical Asia and Australia, it has become a beloved houseplant since the 1950’s, which gives Alocasia a vintage, yet timeless feeling in a home. The myth around Alocasia is in itself ancient and goes back thousands of years in variations of the story about ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’. Only then it was not a beanstalk but a ‘tree that grows up to the heavens’. A story told around the neolithic hearth, which brings people together, survives to this day and reminds us of the unvarying cozy feeling that surrounds our home and our loved ones.
